In line with the Mater Deian philosophy of education, vision and mission, the Home Room-Guidance program aims to assist each student to become a person who recognizes and appreciates his/her God-given unique potentials (talino) and is willing to persevere (tiyaga) to develop and share it for the common good. As a learning community, mentored by their adviser,  the students are taught  to be deeply grateful to God and imbued with a desire to learn to love Him with all their heart, mind, strength and soul and to love others as God loves them (Pusong dakila).

English 10 provides students with the language skills needed to prepare them for Senior High School and career readiness. These skills are developed through the active reading of literary and informational texts, academic language development of text-embedded vocabulary, oral language practice, and writing of informational, argumentative, synthetic, and narrative pieces. Students practice critical thinking, comprehension, and application skills through thematic units centered on topics, such as plot and conflict, themes and symbols, argument and persuasion, and drama. This course expands upon proficiencies in the fundamentals of reading and writing with focus on comprehension and mastery of syntax, grammar, punctuation, capitalization, spelling, and usage in written communication. Students are exposed to a variety of literary and informational texts in order to construct coherent writing pieces that help to develop their own position and perspective on a variety of topics.

This course is designed for a Grade 10 student to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to perform Cookery tasks. It covers core competencies as follows: 1) preparation of egg dishes, 2) preparation of cereals and starch dishes, (3) preparation of vegetable dishes, (4) preparation and cooking of seafood dishes, (5) preparation of stocks, sauces, and soups, (6) preparation of poultry and game dishes, and (7) preparation of and cooking meat.
