11_APPLIED SUBJECTS

English for Academic and Professional Purposes is a subject to be taken in the senior high school under the K-12 curriculum. This subject is described by the curriculum guide of DepEd as, “The development of communication skills in English for academic and professional purposes.” To put it in other words, this subject helps students who undertake it to improve and enhance their skills in communication ̶ whether spoken or written ̶ which is an essential skill that is required for them to easily thrive in the ever-changing society that we have.

Ang Filipino sa Piling Larangan ay isang asignaturang kinukuha ng mga mag-aaral na nasa senior high sa ilalim ng K-12 Curriculum. Ang deskripsiyon nito ayon sa curriculum guide ay, “Pagsulat ng iba’t ibang anyo ng sulating lilinang sa mga kakayahang magpahayag tungo sa mabisa, mapanuri, at masinop na pagsusulat sa piniling larangan.” Nangangahulugan lamang na ang asignaturang ito ay makatutulong sa mga mag-aaral upang mahasa at mapaunlad pa ang kanilang mga kakayanan sa pagsulat ng mga akademikong sulatin na kanilang lubhang kakailanganin sa ating nagbabagong lipunan sa kasalukuyang panahon.

The course aims to develop practical and creative skills in reading and writing; introduce students to the fundamental techniques of writing fiction, poetry, and drama; and discuss the use of such techniques by well-known authors in a variety of genres. Each class will be devoted to the examination of techniques and to the workshop of students’ drafts toward the enrichment of their manuscripts. Students learn how to combine inspiration and revision, and to develop a sense of form.
